The Punjab Cabinet gave nod to the Excise Policy 2025-26 which aims to collect excise revenue of 11020 crore rupees during the financial year 2025-26, projecting an increase of 874.05 crore rupees (8.61%) over the previous financial year’s targets.

A decision to this effect was taken by the Council of Ministers, yesterday. Besides some other changes in the policy as compared to previous years, giving relief to defence forces, the license fee of their wholesale license has been reduced by 50% from



5 lakh rupees to 2.5 lakh rupees.

To promote new investment in the State, a nod to set up new Bottling plants in the state has been given. Likewise, the Cow Welfare Fee has been increased by 50% from one rupee per Proof Litre (PL) to 1.5 rupee per PL. With this, the collection of Cow Welfare Fees will increase from 16 crore rupees to 24 crore rupees. The council has also proposed to set up Excise Police Stations in the coming financial year.
