Punjab Finance Minister, Parminder Singh Singh Dhindsa yesterday presented budget estimates of 86 thousand 387 crore rupees for 2016-17. It includes provision of 19 thousand 500 crore rupees for transactions of current year so the effective budget for coming financial year is 66,887 crore rupees.
The total receipts for 2016-17 will be 66095 crore rupees. In the end of the year budget estimate shows total balance of minus 85
crore rupees while under the revised budget estimates of 2015-16 balance is minus 610 crore rupees. Total annual plan for 2016-17 is 25,479 crore rupees. No new taxes has been proposed in the budget.
Agriculture remains the priority sector. For agriculture and allied activities 7490 crore rupees have been allocated. For Punjab Agriculture University Ludhiana 315 crore rupees have been allocated for research activities.
