Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria flagged off two-day People’s Walk as part of ‘Nasha Mukat-Rangla Punjab’ campaign, a drive to promote Drug-Free Punjab. The campaign was flagged off from the village Beas in Jalandhar district, yesterday. The village belongs to the world-renowned 113-year-old Indian Marathon runner Fauja Singh who walked along with the Governor for 8 kms in the first leg.
Describing Marathon runner Fauja Singh as the symbol of ‘Nasha Mukat Bharat’, the Governor called upon the society to support and join the walk to make Punjab drug-free. He said all should
collectively work to save the youth of Punjab from drug menace. He said that he would soon request and invite all the religious leaders in the state to Raj Bhawan to sit together and find a way to stop drug addiction in Punjab.
Aligned with the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’, a national initiative led by the Ministry of Social Justice, the ‘Nasha Mukat-Rangla Punjab’ campaign brings together a collaborative framework involving the state government, educational institutions, social welfare organisations, and local communities.
