Punjab Government has distributed over 3368 crore rupees as pension to 22.68 elderly beneficiaries until December, last year. Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur said that there are a total of 34 lakh beneficiaries in the state, including the elderly, divyang persons, widows,
destitute women and dependent children.
The state government has allocated a total budget of 5,924.50 crore rupees for various pension schemes, out of which 4,000 crore rupees have been earmarked for old-age pensions during the current financial year.
