With an aim to make Punjab a leading state in clean energy production and diminish reliance on fossil fuels, the State Government has decided to set up 66 solar power plants of 4 MW capacity each.
Punjab New and Renewable Energy Sources Minister Mr. Aman Arora assured that the project will be completed by the end of next year. These solar plants are expected to generate
approximately 400 Million Units (MU) of electricity annually.
He said that these solar power plants will also help compensate the state around 176 crore rupees spent on agricultural subsidy bill, annually. This will contribute significantly to the region’s renewable energy capacity, besides lowering carbon emissions.
