Mumbai: The Congress is all set to sound a poll bugle for the 2024 Lok Sabha election with a mega rally in Nagpur on its 138th foundation day on Thursday. The party president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chiefs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will address the rally, said the Maharashtra Congress leader.
The Congress has made a slogan 'Hai Taiyaar Hum' (We Are Ready) for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The party is holding the rally at Nagpur, the home of the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and 'Deekshabhoomi', the historic place where Dr B.R. Ambedkar embraced Buddhism.
According to the Congress, the rally would be held at Dighori Naka, which has been named as Bharat Jodo Maidan. "We are holding the rally to save democracy and the Constitution of India. We are expecting 10 Lakh people at the rally. Apart from Maharashtra, the people are also coming from neighboring states Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Telangana," a Congress official said.
Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole said that whenever there is a crisis in the
country, Congress begins its battle from Nagpur. "Today, the country’s democratic system, constitution and all the four pillars of democracy are under threat. It is the responsibility of the Congress party to keep these systems intact," Patole said.
Speaking about the preparation, Patole said, "All the preparations have been completed and all the senior Congress leaders from all over the country have arrived in Nagpur."
He said that the party National President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi will address the rally by giving a message of transformation from the historic land of Nagpur.
According to the state congress, all the Congress MPs of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and all Congress MLAs and MLCs from all the states are expected to attend this mega rally. In addition to this, all Congress party’ Chief Ministers, States Congress Presidents, Congress Working Committee members, senior leaders would also attend the rally.
