Nine round-the-clock Dedicated war rooms will be established to promptly restore rail services amid a red alert along the east coast in the wake of Cyclone Dana. The decision was taken in the meeting chaired by the Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to review the preparedness by the concerned Zonal Railways. The Minister has instructed to ensure maximum preparedness with minimal disruption. He also advised that care must be taken to ensure minimum inconvenience to passengers.
According to the Railways, these nine war rooms will be established at Bhubaneswar, Garden Reach, Divisional offices of Khurda Road, Visakhapatnam, Sambalpur, Chakradharpur, Adra, Ranchi, Kharagpur, and Balasore. War room and emergency control rooms are operational with 20
satellite phones for uninterrupted communication. Specialised teams are positioned for the swift restoration of tracks, signalling systems, and electrification.
Help Desk will be set up at all important stations in Puri 8926100356, Khurda road 8926100215, Bhubaneswar 8114382371, Cuttack 8114382359, Paradip 8114388302, Jajpur Keonjhar Road 8114382342, Bhadrak 8114382301, Palasa 8114382319, and Brahamapur 8114382340, and frequent announcements will be made for passengers and the public.
Medical teams with adequate medicines are deployed at various places to tackle any emergency. Adequate food arrangements have been made, including baby food at all important stations.
