Railways will operate 2773 suburban services in Mumbai, with the addition of 753 suburban services to the existing 2020 from today.
While 552 suburban services have been added on Central Railway, 201 more suburban services have been added on Western Railway. The Central and Western railway said that they have already given their inputs to the Maharashtra government regarding resuming local train services for the general public in Mumbai.
In a joint statement, the railway further said that they hope that the state Government will soon revert
back to decide the modalities for providing services to the general public in Mumbai Metropolitan Region. They said railways are subsequently increasing suburban services keeping in view the social distance norms and safety of the public at large.
In its appeal, Railway authorities said that the passengers should follow medical and Covid19 protocols as mandated from time to time. In order to observe all norms mandated for Covid-19, passengers are also requested not to rush inside the train and at the station.
