In Jammu and Kashmir, after a prolonged dry spell, the Bhaderwah town of the Doda district received rain and the upper reaches received the first snowfall of the season yesterday.

The residents of Bhaderwah heaved a sigh of relief after the valley received much-needed rain while surrounding hills experienced the season’s first snowfall last night. The prolonged dry weather which has started taking a toll on the agriculture sector and resulting in large-scale viral infections besides tourism industry was also affected badly due

to the snow till last night finally got some respite as a thin layer of snow engulfed the entire surrounding hills of Bhaderwah valley.

The Guldanda meadow located on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot national highway which became the most visited snow destination of J&K last year due to abundant snow from as early as October remained devoid of visitors this year due to dry weather. Tourists from different parts of the country have started converging on Guldanda to enjoy the snow.
