Life has been badly affected by heavy rain in the eastern parts of Rajasthan. Heavy to very heavy rain has been recorded in 35 towns and cities across Dholpur, Dausa, Bharatpur, Jhalawar, Karauli, and Baran districts. Two children died when a house collapsed due to heavy rain in Dholpur district. The administration has declared a holiday for school students in some districts due to the heavy rain, waterlogging, and forecast of continued rainfall.
Rainfall in Rajasthan has broken the record of 49 years in this
monsoon season. 664 mm rainfall has occurred in the state so far, which is 61 percent more than normal. Earlier, 665 mm rainfall was recorded in the year 1975. Life has been disrupted due to waterlogging in low-lying areas of many cities and towns in the eastern districts. Most of the dams are overflowing and rivers are in spate. Due to excessive rainfall, Kharif crops have suffered heavy losses in many districts. Many people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents in the state.
