In Maharashtra, after three days of heavy downpour, rainfall has seen gradual decrease in Mumbai and other coastal areas of the state. However, gusty winds have been blowing in the state with the wind speed reaching up to 60-70 km per hour.

According to the IMD, monsoon remained widespread and vigorous over Konkan yesterday with heavy to very rainfall at many places and extremely heavy falls at isolated places.  The intense rainfall activity over the region which was expected till 6th Aug 2020 has witnessed gradual



reduction.

At Colaba in Mumbai a highest single day rainfall of 331.8 mm in 24 hrs was witnessed, breaking its earlier record of August. This is also the second highest all-time record over Colaba after 575.6mm recorded on 5th July 1974.

The IMD has also said strong south westerly/westerly monsoonal flow over the Arabian sea with winds speed reaching 50-60 kmph along & off west coast at lower tropospheric levels are very likely to continue to prevail till 8th of August.
