Visakhapatnam: IMD Amaravati has forecast thunderstorms accompanied with lightning at isolated places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.
The forecast is based on formation of a trough, running from south Sri Lanka to south-west and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal at 1.5 km above mean sea level.
The IMD report said due to the system there will be heavy rain at isolated places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh
on January 8.
Private weather website Skymet said there are two systems – a low pressure area over south-east Arabian Sea and a cyclonic circulation over the south-west Bay of Bengal. These would cause rains over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and interior Karnataka.
The report said Telangana could get some scattered rains on January 7 and January 8 due to these systems.
