Amid reports of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot calling  Legislative Assembly Session next week, Leader of Opposition Gulab Chand Kataria on Sunday said that the BJP didn't demand floor test from the Gehlot government. Kataria said that his party BJP was in the "wait and watch" mode as two factions of the ruling Congress -- one led by CM Ashok Gehlot and the other by rebel Sachin Pilot -- fight for power.

Kataria, who is considered close to former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje, said that the BJP was being unnecessarily dragged into this matter.

"BJP had never demanded floor test, not even now. We are watching their fight. When the time is right & we have to do something, we will discuss and move in that direction. As of now, we are being unnecessarily dragged into this matter," Kataria was quoted as saying by ANI.

Speaking about the

phone-tapping, Kataria said that while the state government has the right to tap phones, it can't be done by a private person without any authorization.

"Govt has right to tap phone but only after bringing it into knowledge of&approval from Home Dept. No pvt person is authorised to do it. Some Lokesh Sharma, who is said to be OSD to CM, had done it. He's not authorised, he violated law," the Leader of Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly said.

Meanwhile, Congress leader and MLA from Udairpurwati Rajendra Guda said that the BJP has not been demanding the floor test because they know that the Ashok Gehlot government has the majority in the house.

"We are more than 100 in number (MLAs). We have the majority. If we didn't have majority, they (BJP) would have demanded a floor test. They know that we have it, so they are not demanding floor test," Guda said.
