Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Odisha today to assess the preparedness of the security forces fighting against Maoists in the State. He will first visit Naxal hit Koraput, where he will hold a meeting with top officials of security forces fighting against red ultras. Later, the Home Minister will fly to Bhubaneswar where he will meet the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, prior to his departure for Delhi this evening. Centre framed a new policy to combat the Left Wing Extremism.
With a focus on development under the new strategy to combat the menace, Rajnath Singh would discuss with the various stakeholders today on the blueprint prepared by his Ministry. He is likely to press for deadlines for implementing the projects. During the meeting with the Home Minister, the Odisha Chief Minister will press for two more battalions of Central Armed Police Forces to fight against Maoists.
