Members from opposition parties today raised the issue of rise in fuel and LPG prices in the Rajya Sabha. On the first day of the second leg of the Budget Session, Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge said, petrol prices have reached to 100 rupees per litre and diesel price has touched 80 rupees per litre in the country.
He added that LPG prices have also gone up and excise duties have been increased manifold after the year 2014 which resulted in collection of more
than 21 thousand crore rupees. Mr. Kharge said, people are suffering due to the price rise in the fuel and LPG prices.
Congress and other opposition parties demanded a discussion on the issue. Opposition parties came into the well and started sloganeering. Chairman of Rajya Sabha, M. Venkaiah Naidu urged the members to return to their seats. As the pandemonium continued, Mr. Naidu adjourned the Upper House till 11 AM.
