The Rajya Sabha is now discussing the prevailing situation in Kashmir valley. Initiating the discussion, Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad said there is need to unitedly fight against the rising militancy in the State.
Mr Azad said instead of engaging in politics over the situation, all must discuss and find ways to bring peace and prosperity in Kashmir. He said Kashmir is passing through not democracy but barrel of pellet guns. He said the need of the hour is
integration of minds and hearts of people both at the Centre and the State.
Mr Azad demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement in the House saying that he should express his views in Parliament and not outside. He said people of the state are suffering most due to militancy and everybody is the target of the militants.
The House skipped Zero Hour to discuss the Kashmir issue. Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari said four hours have been allocated for discussion.
