The Rajya Sabha today witnessed repeated adjournments in its pre-lunch session as Samajwadi Party members trooped into the well of the House demanding that the Centre should immediately release funds to Uttar Pradesh for execution of several projects including roads. The issue was raised by its leader Ram Gopal Yadav as soon as the House met for the day.
He
said lakhs of students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are suffering due to delay in the release of Central funds for their scholarships. Earlier, JD(U) members also protested saying that the Centre is not extending assistance for the people affected by floods in Bihar. The House, which was adjourned four times, will now meet at 2 PM.
