The Uttar Pradesh government has notified January 22, the day of Ram Mandir's consecration ceremony, as a state holiday.
The order follows the previous declaration by the UP government for all government offices and educational institutes in the state to remain closed in light of the mega-event on Monday.
The Yogi Adityanath-led state has also announced a ban on the sale of meat and fish on January 22. A few states have also imposed bans,
including a prohibition on the sale of liquor to observe the mega event in Ayodhya.
The proclamation comes as Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Goa governments rolled out similar orders. Notably, most of these BJP-ruled states have provided for a full-day state holiday on January 22.
Meanwhile, in Tripura, all offices and educational institutions across the state will remain closed until 2:30 pm on January 22.
