Heavy rains lashed various districts of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema yesterday under the influence of well-marked low pressure over the Bay of Bengal, with Nellore and Chittor districts experiencing very heavy rainfall.

IMD has issued a red alert for today with a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall over Nellore, Prakasam, YSR, Chittor, and Tirupati districts of Andhra

Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority, in coordination with district officials, is closely monitoring the situation. Command Control Centres and epidemic cells have been set up in rain-affected districts, and fishermen were advised not to venture out into the seas. With IMD’s forecast of heavy rainfall, people living in low-lying areas were asked to stay alert for the next three days.
