In Tamil Nadu, the Regional Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in coastal districts of the State till the 17th of this month. According to the MeT Department , a low pressure is likely to form over Southwest Bay of Bengal and concentrate into a depression over West Central Bay of Bengal around 16th November due to an upper air cyclonic circulation which lies over the South Andaman Sea. 

The forecast also warned of heavy widespread rainfall in many districts. 



Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.

District Collectors have been asked to adhere to  Standard operating procedures during this period.
 
In a circular to all the district Collectors, the State Relief Commissioner S.K. Prabakar has stated that adequate preparedness measures should be taken to tackle any emergencies due to the heavy rainfall. Schools in more than six districts have been closed as a preventive measure today.
