RG Kar case, Court awards life term for Sanjay Roy, Rs 17L to victim’s kin by state

A Kolkata court on Monday, January 20, sentenced rape and murder accused, Sanjay Roy, to life imprisonment till death and directed the West Bengal government to pay

Rs 17 lakh in compensation to the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital victim doctor’s family, stating that the case was not “rarest of the rare.”
