River flows above danger mark, Flood situtation continues to grim in Bihar

In Bihar, flood situation continues to be grim as rivers including Ganga, Gandak, Kosi, Mahananda are flowing above danger mark at several places. Some new areas of Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Katihar have also been affected due to flood. Due to heavy rainfall in catchment areas of Nepal originated rivers, there is no respite from flood situation. The Meteorological Department has issued alert for heavy rainfall in several parts of North Bihar for next



24 hours.

 

Rising water level of Kosi has engulfed several houses in Nauhatta block in Saharsa district. Several people from these areas have taken shelters at higher places with their livestocks. In Khagaria district Gogri, Manasi, Chautham and Parbatta blocks are flood affected. 89 schools have been closed till 5th September in flood affected areas of Khagaria.
