The counting of votes for the bye-election in Chennai’s Radhakrishnan Nagar Assembly constituency resumed after clashes between two opposing camps of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam disrupted the process briefly on Sunday morning.

Supporters of AIADMK candidate E Madhusudhanan and those of ousted party leader TTV Dinakaran clashed at the counting centre after poll officials said the latter was leading.

Counting was suspended for around 15 minutes.

In early trends, Dinakaran was leading with 5,339 votes against Madhusudhanan’s 2,738 votes.

Counting halted for about 15 minutes after clash between AIADMK and Dhinakaran supporters, later resumed. Chennai district Electoral Officer says "Police restored peace, nothing alarming. Compilation of second round going on" #RKNagarByPoll
