The Centre on Monday told the Supreme Court that the Manipur government would provide round-the-clock security to the parents of a youth killed in a road rage incident involving the chief minister's son.

A single bench of Justice Deepak Gupta took note of the submission made by the Centre, through Additional Solicitor General Maninder Singh, that personnel of the Manipur Rifles would be deployed

at the residence of petitioners Irom Chitra Devi and Irom Lokendra Singh, parents of the victim, Roger.

Following the submissions, the court refrained from passing any order.

Ajay Meetai, son of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, was awarded a five-year jail term for culpable homicide as he fired at Roger for not allowing him to overtake, on March 20, 2011.
