Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday claimed he was stopped from entering a temple in Assam by BJP and RSS workers during his recent visit to the state.
“The BJP and RSS stationed a few women at the gate to stop me from entering the temple. Who are they to stop me from entering a temple,” Gandhi told reporters outside Parliament.  The incident allegedly happened at the Barpeta Satra in Assam during his two day visit to Assam from December 11-12.
Gandhi raked up the issue a day after Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi alleged it was a “conspiracy by the RSS who infiltrated the

satras,” which are religious centres in Vaishnavite tradition.
“While concluding the padyatra, Rahul entered the satra to pay his respects and seek blessings...It was a conspiracy by RSS, who has infiltrated into satras also,” Gogoi said on Sunday.
Gogoi also said he would launch an inquiry would be conducted into the incident to find out who was responsible.
“We came to know about it in the morning itself and Rahul was also informed about this. We wanted to avoid a confrontation and so he did not pay a visit in the morning despite having women police with him,” he added.
