Controversy around the Mughal wonder Taj Mahal hasn't died down even after the visit by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath.
The history wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-Akhil Bhartiya Itihaas Sankalan Samiti has demanded that Friday prayers at Taj Mahal should be banned.
RSS affiliate body's National Organisation Secretary Dr Balmukund Pandey in an exclusive conversation said, 'Taj is a national heritage- why allow Muslims to use it as a religious site? Permission to perform namaz at Agra's Taj Mahal should be withdrawn.'
Dr Pandey also demanded that if
namaz is allowed then permission to perform Shiva prayers be also granted to the Hindus.
The history wing of RSS with stated objective of writing, or rewriting Indian history from a national perspective.
In fact, Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, even during full moon night, to facilitate the prayers.
A few days ago, activists of a Hindu group recited Shiv Chalisa on its premises. The Central Security Industrial Force (CISF) took the workers into custody, and released them only after a written apology. The Hindu activists were reportedly from Aligarh and Hathras.
