The Gurgaon police on Sunday resorted to lathi charge after people gathered outside the Ryan International School to protest against the death of an eight-year-old class 2 student who was murdered on Friday morning.
Some protesters also set on fire a liquor shop claiming it was within 100 metres of the school. However, excise authorities said the vend was located beyond 150 metres from the campus.
Around 10 reporters and photographers of various media organisations were injured in the lathicharge. Two of them have been sent to a hospital.
The police
arrested on Friday night a 42-year-old school bus conductor for allegedly murdering an eight-year-old second grader at Ryan International School, Bhondsi in Gurgaon.
The boy was found outside a school toilet on the ground floor, crawling and bleeding profusely before he died. A medical team that conducted the post-mortem examination said the victim's throat was slit twice.
The incident has sparked protests by parents, who vandalised school property on Saturday while several others held a sit-in protest at the police commissioner's office.
