The Supreme Court today quashed the petition to stop the deportation of seven Rohingya men to Myanmar. Activist and lawyer Prashant Bhushan had filed a petition in the Supreme Court to put a stay on the deportation of seven Rohingya Muslims.
The SC observed that the seven men have been recognised as citizens of Myanmar and quashed the petition.
Seven Rohingya men will be deported to Myanmar today. The Assam Police will hand them over to the Myanmar authorities at the Moreh border.

immigrants were detained by the Assam Police in 2012 and were under detention in Cachar Central Jail in Assam's Silchar district.
The Indian authorities confirmed that their Myanmar counterparts have verified the identity of the Rohingya Muslims. The Centre told the Supreme Court that Myanmar has accepted the Rohingya as their citizens and agreed to take them back.
Meanwhile, an official at the UN refugee agency said conditions in Rakhine were not conducive for the safe, dignified and sustainable return of the Rohingya.
