The scrutiny of nominations for the Maharashtra Assembly Elections will take place today. Yesterday was the last day for filing nominations.
In Maharashtra, a total of 7 thousand 9 hundred 95 candidates have filed their nomination for 288 constituencies of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. For the Nanded Lok Sabha by-election, 56 candidates have filed their nominations.
The by-election for the Nanded Lok Sabha seat was necessitated due to the death of member of parliament Vasant Chavan in August this year. Congress party has fielded his son Dr. Ravindra Chavan against BJP candidate Dr. Santuk Hambarde. Nomination can be withdrawn till Monday i.e. 4th November. Voting in the state will be held on 20th November and counting of votes will take place on 23rd November.
Scrutiny of nominations for the second phase of elections will also take place in Jharkhand today. Six hundred
thirty-four candidates have filed their nominations for this phase. Thirty-eight constituencies will go to polls in the second phase polls on the 20th of November.
Candidates can withdraw their nominations until tomorrow. Today is the last day for the withdrawal of candidatures for the first phase of elections .743 candidates are in the fray. Forty-three constituencies will go to polls in the first phase of elections on the 13th of November. The counting of votes will be undertaken on 23rd November.
Meanwhile, search operations have been intensified across the state to seize illegal materials and cash. Twenty-nine FIRs have been lodged for violation of the model code of conduct. Three Maoists have been arrested in the Panki police station area of Palamu district of the state during the combing operation.
