At least 42 people, including four police officials, were injured after some unidentified persons allegedly pelted stones at a motorcycle rally taken out as part of a religious procession in Rajasthan’s Karauli on Saturday, April 2.
The rally was being taken out on the occasion of 'Nav Samvatsar', the first day of Hindu New Year.
Following the incident, police immediately reached the spot and tried to bring the situation under control. The authorities have
imposed Section 144 in Karauli to maintain law and order. The curfew will be in place till Monday night. The officials have also shut down internet in the area.
“Curfew has been imposed. Additional police force has been deployed to maintain law and order,” Rajendra Singh Shekhawat, district collector, Karauli, was quoted as saying by PTI.
Rajendra Singh Shekhawat added that the arson took place at several places and that the situation is tense but under control.
