Security forces arrest two terrorists in Shopian district, J&K

Srinagar: In the Kashmir Valley, security forces arrested two terrorists in south Kashmir's Shopian district and recovered arms & ammunition from their possession.

Acting on specific input regarding the presence of an active terrorist Shahid Ahmad Gaine of proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and his close associate at village Doomwani near Rambi Ara, Police along with 44 Rashtriya Rifles and 14Bn CRPF launched a joint cordon and search operation in the area.

As soon as joint parties of Police and Security forces approached the suspected spot, the two suspects



tried to flee from the spot. However, the duo were arrested tactfully by the joint search parties. The other arrested terrorist has been identified as Kifayat Ayoub.

Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 01 Chinese pistols, 01 pistol magazine, 02 Chinese hand grenades, 08 pistol rounds were recovered from their possession. Besides, a cash amount of 2.9 lakh rupees were also recovered from their possession.

Meanwhile, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation has been initiated.
