In Punjab, the noted environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal and entrepreneur, educationist and philanthropist Vikramjit Singh Sahni yesterday filed their nomination papers for two seats of Rajya Sabha from the state as a candidate of the Aam Aadmi Party. The nominations were filed with the Secretary of Punjab Vidhan Sabha at Chandigarh in the presence of Cabinet Ministers Harpal Singh Cheema and Kuldeep Singh



Dhaliwal. Both are Padam Shri awardees.

The term of Rajya Sabha members from Punjab Ambika Soni of Congress and Balwinder Singh Bhunder of Shiromani Akali Dal are due to expire on July 4.

As the AAP has an overwhelming majority in the Punjab Assembly, the candidates are set to be elected unopposed.
