Seven naxals killed in an encounter in Chhattisgarh

Seven naxals were killed in an encounter between the CPI (Maoist) cadres and security forces in south Abujahmad of Bastar area in Chhattisgarh State on Thursday.

A joint party of special task force (STF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) along with District Reserve Guard (DRG) of Narayanpur, Dantewada, Jagdalpur, Kondagaon districts went to the Abujahmad



area in anti-naxal search operation.

Exchange of fire between naxalites and the security forces took place intermittently from 3 am onwards. After the firing was ceased the security personnel recovered bodies of seven uniformed naxalites until afternoon hours. The encounter and search operation are going on and casualties on the naxal side are expected to increase.
