After some respite from the heatwave, temperatures have again soared in the coastal belt of Odisha, with capital Bhubaneswar recording 45.3 degrees Celsius yesterday. On the 11th of this month, the mercury had touched 45.8 degrees in the city. With 45.4 degrees, Sonepur and Talcher were the hottest places in the state yesterday.
Mercury soared over 40 degrees at
several other places. Met department sources said, if the wind flow continues to be from the west and north-west direction, there would be a further rise in temperature in the state capital and other coastal belts. The Special Relief Commissioner’s office said, it has, so far, received complaints of 119 alleged sunstroke deaths from different parts of the state.
