The ruling Naga People's Front (NPF) President Shurhozelie Liezietsu has unanimously been elected as the legislature party leader. He has been asked by party legislators to take over the reigns from Chief Minister TR Zeliang.
Addressing a press conference in Kohima last evening, State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Keyanielie Peseyie said, majority of the NPF legislators elected Mr Shurhozelie to break the deadlock between
the agitating groups and the government. He said, Mr Shurhozelie has accepted the offer to restore normalcy and prevent the imposition of President's rule in the state.
The Minister also said, a meeting will be held with Mr Zeliang today once he returns from Delhi. The Chief Minister and Nagaland Governor PB Acharya are in the national capital to apprise the Centre about the prevailing situation in the state.
