The death toll in the Rajkot fire incident has reached 27. State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi, who visited the site of the incident, told reporters that strict action would be taken against whoever was responsible for the tragedy. He said Prima facie it was learned that the cause of the fire was the lethargy of a welding person.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has started its investigation since last night. He further said that the responsible people, including the owner of the game zone, have been picked up within a short time of the incident by police.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in the early morning visited the accident site and got the details
of the rescue operations including the causes of the accident.
A Burns Ward with a capacity of 100 beds has been set up at Rajkot civil Hospital, The D N A samples and family referral samples have been sent to Gandhinagar F.S.L. by air ambulance for identification of dead bodies. The SIT will investigate the causes of the incident and submit its preliminary report to the state government within three days.
The Gujarat High Court yesterday took suo motu cognizance of the fire incident at TRP Game Zone in Rajkot that killed at least 27 people. The issue will be heard in the Gujarat High Court on Monday, May 27.
