In Jammu and Kashmir, the situation remained by and large peaceful for the third consecutive day. 

According to a senior official of the state administration, some shops opened in Srinagar and the movement of people on the roads picked up despite the restrictions imposed under Section 144. 

A four-hour relaxation was given from 11 am to 3 pm in major towns and markets of Ramban district, except in Banihal. 

The



relaxation period passed off peacefully and people were seen buying ration and other essential commodities. 

In Reasi district, Government offices and Banks will resume functioning from today. However, schools and Colleges will continue to remain closed. 

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who is camping in Srinagar, yesterday visited Shopian and interacted with Police personnel and local people.
