The Sixteenth Finance Commission held a meeting with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and members of the state Cabinet in the capital Raipur yesterday. During the meeting, Commission Chairman Dr Arvind Panagariya said that to fulfil the resolve of making a developed India and a developed Chhattisgarh, emphasis will have to be laid on manufacturing units.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that due to the difficult geographical conditions of
Chhattisgarh, there is an additional expenditure burden on infrastructure development in the state. He demanded more financial assistance from the state. The Finance Commission also held discussions with representatives of Panchayat, Urban Bodies and political parties in Raipur today.
The team of the Central Finance Commission will also visit Jagdalpur, the headquarters of Bastar Division during its visit to Chhattisgarh.
