Sixth-phase of assembly elections in UP to be held on Thursday

The sixth phase of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh will be held tomorrow. Campaigning for this phase ended yesterday evening. 57 constituencies spread over 10 districts will go to polls in this phase. These districts are Ambedkar Nagar, Balrampur, Siddharth Nagar, Basti, Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Deoriya, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Ballia. A total of 676 candidates are in the fray for this phase.

10 districts that will go for poll tomorrow are Ambedkar Nagar Balrampur, Siddharth Nagar, Basti, Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Deoriya, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Ballia. The districts going for poll tomorrow are in Poorvanchal region of state which has migration issues, aspirational districts like Balrampur and Sidharth Nagar, flood issues, and areas that are famous for sugar and rice production. 

All parties have tried to touch on the issue of backwardness of the region during poll campaign. All eyes will be on Gorakhpur city seat of Gorakhpur district from where senior BJP leader and Chief



Minister of state Yogi Adityanath is contesting his first assembly election and Subhawati Shukla, wife of Yogi's one time associate Upendra Datt Shukla is pitted against him on Samajwadi party ticket. 

President of Azad Samaj party Chandrashekhar is also contesting from this seat. Many ministers of state government like Surya Pratap Shahi, Upendra Tiwari, and Anand Shukla are contesting in this phase of elections. Senior Samajwadi Party leader and leader of opposition Ram Govind Chaudhari is also contesting from Bansdih seat of Ballia district 

In this phase. former ministers and turncoat Lalji Verma and Swami Prasad Maurya are contesting on Samajwadi party ticket from Katari seat of Ambedkar Nagar district and Fazil Nagar of Kushinagar district respectively. Journalist turned politician Shalabh mani Tripathi is fighting from Devriya Sadar seat while Congress leader Akhilesh Pratap Singh is also contesting from Rudrapur seat of the district.
