In Jammu and Kashmir, sixth phase of Panchayat elections has begun. The polling, which started at 8 AM, will end at 2 PM. A total of 7,156 candidates are in the fray for 406 Sarpanches and 2277 Panches in this phase. 
 
In the 6th phase, an electorate of 5,97,396 will be voting for Sarpanch constituencies while  4,57,581 electorate will vote for Panch constituencies.  A total of 771 polling stations have been categorised as Hypersensitive of which



410 are in Kashmir Division and 361 in Jammu Division. 
 
Basic minimum facilities have been ensured in all the polling stations for facilitating the voters. Security arrangements have been made including deployment of Central Armed Police Forces. 

Senior government officers have been appointed as General Observers to oversee smooth, fair and orderly conduct of Panchayat Elections.
