Sen Deka, a senior Congress leader on Sunday made a controversial statement
against HRD Minister Smriti Irani and PM Modi.
The former state Agriculture minister at a public meeting by Congress party in the Nalbari district of Assam on Sunday said that many people refer to Smriti Irani as the second wife of PM Modi.
The BJP has strongly
condemned Deka’s remarks. “It was a “shameful assertion” by
the Congress leader
towards Irani,” BJP general secretary Ram Madhav said.
Union Sports Minister and Assam unit BJP chief Sarbananda Sonowal told reporters, “It reflects the polluted and perverted mind of the Congress”, as per PTI.
“We demand immediate expulsion of Deka and Kurmi from Congress and strongest possible exemplary punishment to them for making such statements against a popular PM,” he said.
