Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani will deliver the Sardar Patel Memorial Lecture, organised by All India Radio, in New Delhi today. The theme of the lecture is, 'Model of Broadcast Landscape for Democracies'. Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore will be the Guest of Honour.

Vempati will also be present.AIR hosts the annual Sardar Patel Memorial Lecture as a mark of respect to Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, India's first Information and Broadcasting Minister. The lectures started in 1955 and the first was delivered by C. Rajagopalachari. The lectures are usually held sometime in the last week of October and broadcast on the national hook-up of AIR on the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel on 31st October.
