Government has said that Soil Health Card has helped in increasing the productivity of farm produce and reduced the cost of production. Agriculture Ministry in a release said, it has also made a huge difference to farming and farm produce.
The scheme initiated for farmers provides information to farmers on nutrient status of their soil along with recommendations on appropriate dosage of nutrients for improving soil health and its fertility. It also provides information about the nature of the soil.

Modi had inaugurated the scheme on February, 2015, in Suratgarh, Rajasthan to promote balanced use of soil nutrients and boost the crop productivity. The Ministry said, in the first two-year of the scheme, around 30 lakh samples were collected and so far 93 percent samples have been tested.
About 14 crore Soil Health Cards are being created by the State Governments and till now, it has been distributed among 8 crore farmers. The Ministry said, in the next three months, the rest of the farmers will receive their Soil Health Cards.
