Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar, Muft Bijli Yojana has achieved a significant milestone by completing 10.09 lakh installations across the country as of the 10th of March. The New and Renewable Energy Ministry, in a statement today said that Chandigarh Daman and Diu have achieved 100 per cent of their government building rooftop solar targets, leading the nation in clean energy adoption.

Renewable Energy Minister Prahlad Joshi highlighted in a social media post that this initiative has empowered 10 lakh homes with solar energy. He emphasized that it is driving a new era of sustainability, affordability, and self-reliance. 

Launched on February 13, the scheme provides free electricity via rooftop solar to 1 crore homes, reducing reliance on conventional power and empowering citizens as energy producers. It also enables every household to contribute to climate change mitigation by reducing carbon emissions.
