Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's personal assistant, PP Madhavan, has been charged with rape by the Delhi Police following a complaint by a woman. Along with rape, Madhavan has also been charged with "criminal intimidation" by the police.

The woman, in her complaint to the Delhi Police, accused PP Madhavan, 71, of raping and sexually exploiting her on the pretext of marriage. According to her statement, PP Madhavan professed his love for the woman and allegedly expressed his desire to marry her. "He made sexual advances without my consent," the woman said in the

complaint.

The woman's husband, who worked at the Congress office, putting up hoardings and doing other work, died in 2020.

"After my husband’s death in February 2020, I began looking for a job and got in touch with Madhavan. He first called me for interview. He used to make video calls and chat with me on WhatsApp," she claimed.

"He took me to an isolated location near the Uttam Nagar metro station and forced himself on me inside his car. In February 2022, he took me to a flat in Sundar Nagar and forced himself on me without my consent," she further alleged.
