In Uttar Pradesh, a special court has sentenced two persons to life imprisonment in 2007 Ayodhya civil court blast case.

Additional District Judge Ashok Kumar also imposed a fine of 50 thousand rupees to Tariq Kazmi of Azamgarh and Mohammad Akhtar alias Tarique of Jammu and Kashmir.

Third accused Sazzad ur Rehman was acquitted because of lack of



evidence.

The fourth accused Khalid Mujahid died in Barabanki jail due to heatstroke. On the 23rd of November 2007, a series of blasts had rocked civil courts of Lucknow, Varanasi and Ayodhya, then known as Faizabad.

Four persons including a lawyer lost their lives in the blast. Anti Terrorism Squad of UP Police had carried out the probe.
