The East Coast Railways today will conduct speed trial run of a train on the newly constructed 13.5 kilometre track between Bolagarh and Nayagarh of 289 kilometre long Khurda Road-Bolangir railway line project. Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety Sudarshan Nayak and other railway officials will be present during the trial run.
Railway sources said Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety will examine tracks and signal system before he tests the speed trial of the train. Speed trial is conducted to determine the maximum permissible speed at which trains would be allowed to run.
After this run today, if Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety found track fit it
will be declared fit for passenger traffic. The 54.5 kilometre railway line between Khurda Road and Bolagarh has already been commissioned and two pairs of trains are running along the stretch.
The train service was extended in the second phase between Begunia and Rajsunakhala on November 2015.Later it was again extended to Bolagarh this year in the third phase. The Centre has allocated 7 hundred crore rupees in this year budget for one of the oldest railway projects of the state.
This new line will connect western part of the state to coastal Odisha. Several districts will get railway communication through this new rail line.
