Sri Lanka releases 18 Indian fishermen hailing from Ramanathapuram

Eighteen fishermen from Ramanathapuram, who were arrested by the Srilankan Navy for allegedly trespassing into their territorial waters, were released from Srilankan prison. They reached Chennai early this morning. They were released from the prison on the 31st of last month and were handed

over to the Indian High Commission.

After COVID tests and certain formalities, they were sent from Sri Lanka. On reaching Chennai, the State Government made arrangements for them to reach their respective native places.
