The coronavirus cases in Delhi is likely reach 5.5 lakh by the end of July, warned state deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia today. The coronavirus cases in Delhi has been on a steep rise for the last few days. The total number of coronavirus patients in the national capital has inched towards 30,000-mark today.
Following the trend, the coronavirus count in the state will touch the grim milestone of 1 lakh by June end, said Sisodia. To tackle the situation the Delhi government will need at least 15,000 beds, he added.
Delhi's COVID-19 count likely to reach 44,000 by the middle of this month, Sisodia told. The doubling rate of coronavirus infection in the national capital is 12-13 days, added Delhi deputy chief minister.
The announcement came after Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal striked down Kejriwal government's questionable request to save state-government and private medical clinics for the COVID-19 treatment of occupants of Delhi. Baijal requested that specialists must guarantee that treatment isn't denied to any patient on grounds of not being an occupant of Delhi.
"This is the explanation the Delhi bureau had chosen to save the beds just for the city occupants however it was toppled by the LG. Presently, who will assume the liability if the cases continue expanding and the beds are full?" he
inquired.

The reports are expected by Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning. Kejriwal had chaired a cabinet meet on Sunday, which was attended by Manish Sisodia, Gopal Rai, Satyendar Jain among others. After Kejriwal fell sick, he cancelled all his programs and did not meet anyone.
"LG's order has created a huge problem and challenge for the people of Delhi. Providing treatment for people coming from all over the country during Coronavirus pandemic is a big challenge. We will try to provide treatment to all," Kejriwal tweeted on Monday.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor has also called an all-party meet today to discuss coronavirus situation in the state. The total number of coronavirus patients in India increased to 266,598 today. The deadly virus claimed 7,466 lives in the country.
