Conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar, who is currently in Delhi's Tihar Jail in a 2015 multi-crore fraud case, has written to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, declaring his overseas income of Rs 22,410 crore, for the fiscal year 2024-2025.
In the letter, issued through his lawyer, Chandrasekhar expressed his readiness to pay Rs 7,640 crore in taxes on the declared income under India's taxation framework.
The conman has disclosed details about his international business ventures, LS Holdings International and Speed Gaming Corporation, registered in Nevada in the US and the British Virgin Islands, respectively. These entities, engaged in online and offline gaming and betting, have been operational since 2016 and reportedly achieved a turnover of USD 2.70 billion in 2024, he claimed.
He also claimed that these businesses maintain active operations across the US, Spain, the UK, Dubai, and Hong Kong. Additionally, he expressed his willingness to resolve all pending income tax recovery proceedings and appeals in India.

Today could not independently verify the authenticity of Chandrasekhar's assets declared in his letter.
Chandrasekhar is accused of orchestrating a massive extortion racket, allegedly swindling hundreds of crores of rupees from wealthy individuals, including politicians and business figures.
He is the prime accused in a Rs 200 crore money laundering case under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He also faces additional charges filed by Delhi Police’s Economic Offence Wing and other agencies.
The ED case highlights Chandrasekhar's alleged scheme to defraud Aditi Singh and Japna Singh, spouses of the former Ranbaxy promoters Shivinder Singh and Malvinder Singh, of a staggering Rs 200 crore. Both Chandrasekhar and his wife, Leena Maria Paul, are embroiled in proceedings related to the case.
The conman's personal life has also drawn public attention, particularly rumours of a romantic relationship with Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez. However, Fernandez, a Sri Lankan, has consistently denied these claims.
